Rethink Risk: Resilience, Agility & Business Disruptions

The changing competitive, economic and regulatory environment constantly creates new challenges for corporate treasury and financial risk management. Having an effective strategy in place to deal with financial risks is of utmost importance to finance professionals, and companies are constantly re-evaluating their framework for measuring and monitoring financial risks.

The current economic environment with changing interest rate relationships between Australian Dollars and US dollars, changes in the costs of hedging and precarious global political conditions, has led to companies reviewing their approaches to managing the key financial risks. Shareholders demand greater financial transparency and prudent hedging practices, particularly responsible risk management. Capital and liquidity management remain the highest priority. Treasurers and financial controllers are required to remain abreast of emerging better practices and the risks and opportunities presented by the evolving landscape.

This 2-day training programme has been designed keeping in mind the urgency of robust risk management for the corporate treasury function, which is at the forefront of liquidity management, foreign exchange and interest rate hedging and international transactions. As the proportion of funding sourced through traditional bank sources and capital markets changes, treasurers need to be aware of potential non-traditional funding sources.

By reviewing best practice strategies to identify and manage market and liquidity risks, delegates will be able to better forecast the impact of volatile external conditions and manage cash and liquidity challenges to achieve improved treasury performance. Examples of better practice policies and procedures will be provided including cash flow forecasting models and Excel based financial calculators. Practical exercises and quizzes at the end of each session allow delegates to evaluate their understanding of the key issues and ensure they can implement effective strategies within their organisations to achieve optimal performance of the treasury function and have an immediate, long-term effect on the bottom line of the entire corporation.
